Omaha family excited to have Texas Tech in town

OMAHA, NE (KCBD) -

While many South Plains residents are making the 800-mile trek to see Texas Tech play in Omaha, the Christiansen family gets to enjoy seeing the Red Raiders come to them.

Kelly and Mari Christiansen, along with their three children, just moved to Omaha from their hometown of Abernathy back in April.

The family bleeds red and black and couldn't be more thrilled to see Texas Tech come to them for the College World Series.

"We've been following them and knew they had a chance to get here," Kelly Christiansen said. "The fact they did it is a dream come true."

"To me it's like seeing family from back home, here," Mari Christiansen said. "I love it."

The Christiansens spent the afternoon around the ballpark at Fan Fest decked out in their Texas Tech gear. On Sunday, they'll be in the stadium cheering on the Red Raiders against TCU.

"We have tickets along the 3rd base line so we're good to go," Kelly Christiansen said.

"For them to be here on this stage is great for Lubbock, great for Tech, and especially great for us."
