KCBD headed to Guatemala to document Buckner shoe delivery

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Buckner International has teamed up with First Baptist Church in Lubbock to deliver thousands of pairs of shoes to deserving children in Guatemala City.

They've offered to send a pair of KCBD journalists to document their delivery journey.

Azian Bermea and Taylor Langston have been selected to accompany the group traveling to Guatemala City for five days to deliver to schools and directly to orphaned children.

The group will take off from the Lubbock International Airport Sunday morning at 5 a.m. and return Thursday afternoon.

The mission statement of Buckner International is to transform the lives of vulnerable children, enrich the lives of senior adults and build strong families through Christ-centered values.

Buckner has been working with children in Guatemala since 2002 and currently has several translators that work with Buckner associates who travel into the city for donations.

These translators will be essential to communication between those delivering the shoes and the children receiving them.
