Despite the Red Raiders stealing the lead late from TCU after the Horned Frogs led the entire way, Texas Christian was able to answer back with two runs of their own, to beat Texas Tech 3-2 in the Red Raider's first ever College World Series game.
Both teams got stellar performances from their starting pitchers. Preston Morrison went 7 1/3 innings for the Horned Frogs, striking out 10 Red Raiders and allowing only 1 run. Chris Sadberry pitched 7 innings, allowing only 1 run on 3 hits. After the starters left, the offense got going for both teams.
In the top of the 8th with the Red Raiders down 1-0, Tyler Neslony drove in 2 runs with a 1 out triple to give the Red Raiders their first lead. But TCU would answer with a pair of runs in the bottom half of the inning off of a hit and an error to reclaim the lead. The Horned Frogs never relinquished that lead and held on for a 3-2 win over Texas Tech.
Tech will face the loser of the Ole Miss, Virginia game which will be played Sunday night at TD Ameritrade Park.
