Volunteer Center of Lubbock needs your help this summer

Posted: Updated:
LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

The Volunteer Center of Lubbock has opportunities for people of all ages this summer.

Sharon Bass, executive director of the center, said that they try to inspire a more engaged community by helping others find, and act on, their purpose.

Every week, the center will have volunteer opportunities at different sites - which she said gives people a chance to share their gifts and connect with the community.

Examples of the volunteer work include making cookies at the Ronald McDonald House, helping at the Haven Animal Shelter, and supporting the veterans at Carillon.

"There's just an innocence and a real heart and love that comes through," Bass said. "I think that the sooner people are able to start connecting outside of themselves and to give back outside of themselves, the better they are as a person."
