Juneteenth events scheduled for June 19 through June 22

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

The Juneteenth Commission will be hosting a community wide Juneteenth celebration from June 19 to June 22.

The Juneteenth Commission says that the celebration is a great opportunity for the Lubbock community to come together as one and that this year's theme is Family Reunion.

Food and entertainment will be offered for families to enjoy.

Each event is free to all those that attend.

The list of Juneteenth celebration events are as follows:

June 19

  • Reception at 408 Hunter Street at 7 p.m.

June 20

  • "In the Know" Knowledge Bowl at The Institute (517 North Zenith) at 6 p.m.

June 21

  • Senior Breakfast at Mae Simmons Senior Building at 8 a.m.
  • Parade beginning at Avenue A and Broadway at 9 a.m.
  • Park Events at Mae Simmons Park beginning at 11 a.m.

June 22

  • Gospel Stage at Mae Simmons Park at 7 p.m.
