Idalou Baseball Coach Garrett Heard and his 5 Wildcat Seniors found themselves in front row seats in the outfield at the College World Series Tuesday, but it wasn't because Texas Tech was playing.
Idalou went 32-6 making the 2A State Semifinals in Round Rock, but that caused the seniors on the team to miss Idalou's Senior trip, so Coach Heard decided to drive them to Omaha to see College Baseball's Biggest Stage.
"Just worked out. The school gave them the money to attend and now we're here. We got in at 1:30 in morning and were excited to cheer on the Red Raiders," said Heard.
The fact that the Red Raiders are at the College World Series is a bonus to Senior Kleat Smith.
"It's great. We had a good season. They had a great season. We finished off at State and now we get to watch them at the College World Series," said Smith.
Getting in the General Admission line early, Joey Ybarra and the Wildcats were able to get front row seats making this an envious Senior trip for his other classmates.
"It's great I'd rather do this than go to Colorado, like our Seniors did. Me and the guys talk about how they're probably jealous we're out here and they just went to Colorado. It's a great," said Ybarra.
Idalou baseball was one of the best in State and now the Seniors are soaking in seeing the best in College Baseball play with a once in a lifetime Senior Trip.
