Anton woman killed in Tuesday afternoon rollover

HOCKLEY COUNTY, TX (KCBD) -

An Anton woman has died after a two vehicle crash in Hockley County Tuesday.

It happened around 1:55 p.m. at the intersection of King Road and Main Road.

Officials say a Chevy pickup was traveling northbound on King Road when it failed to yield to the right of way and collided with a Pontiac traveling westbound on Main Road.

The Chevy then rolled and landed on top of the Pontiac, killing the driver, 37-year-old Kirstie Kay Watkins of Anton.

Watkins was a teacher in Shallowater and the wife of a Lubbock police officer.

The driver of the Chevy, 20-year-old Zachary Joe Bounds, and his 29-year-old passenger both suffered non life-threatening injuries.
