Governor Perry Names New Secretary of State

Texas Governor Rick Perry named a new Secretary of State on Wednesday.

Roger Williams is a businessman from Weatherford. Governor Perry said Williams will help market the state and help improve ties with Mexico. The Secretary of State is also the Chief Elections Officer for Texas.

Williams will take over for Geoff Connor, who announced last week he's stepping down at the end of the year to return to the private sector.
