Lubbock police increase reward for hit and run suspect

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Lubbock police are continuing their search for a hit and run suspect who caused the death of an elderly woman.

79-year-old Margaret Alford was found in the roadway at 54th and Bangor Avenue around 5 p.m. on Friday, May 30.

Police say the driver failed to control speed, failed to yield right of way to a pedestrian at an open intersection, and fled the scene without rendering aid.

Alford was taken to UMC with serious injuries and died on June 9.

The reward for information concerning this case has been increased to $5,000.
