7 on 7 tournament qualifies two in Wolfforth

WOLFFORTH, TX (KCBD) -

Twelve high schools from Lubbock, Midland, San Angelo and Abilene competed in a State Qualifying 7 on 7 football tournament at People's Bank Stadium in Wolfforth on Friday.

Frenship Football Coach Brad Davis says it can only help teams with the High School football season fast approaching.

"Everybody's got some good reps in. Any time you can get out here and throw and catch and defend, I think it helps you for the fall to get ready for real football."

In Friday's semifinals, Frenship beat Coronado 39-24 and San Angelo Central edged Odessa Permian 32-27. The top two teams advance to the State Championships. Frenship and San Angelo Central didn't play a Championship as both move on to College Station for the 7 on 7 State Championships July 12-14.

7 on 7 is a sign reporting to practice in August is almost here.

"It will get here before you know it. That's when the fun starts. This summer stuff is fun, but it's not real football so we're looking forward to August."
