LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech junior catcher Hunter Redman has agreed to terms with the Los Angeles Dodgers and will report this week to Arizona, the site of the organization's spring training facilities.

Redman will most likely be headed to the Rookie Pioneer League (Ogden Raptors) or the Class-A Midwest League (Great Lakes Loons).

Redman was the first catcher taken by the Dodgers in this year's draft. Overall, he was the 18th catcher selected in the draft and the 12th highest collegiate catcher taken.

He ranked among team leaders batting .328 during league play while being named All-Big 12 second team. He became the first Red Raider catcher to earn All-Big 12 honors during his first season at Tech since 2002 (Willie Durazo).

Redman is the highest drafted Tech catcher since 2006 (Tyler Reves, White Sox – 4th Round).

He was instrumental in the success of the Red Raider pitching staff that recorded a 3.11 ERA – which ranks second all-time at Texas Tech and is the best team ERA during the aluminum bat era (since 1974). The only season where the Red Raiders had a better team ERA was in 1967 (2.50).

Redman joins his brother, Reid, in professional baseball as Reid was also a Red Raider (2011-12) and was drafted twice during his Tech career – 2011 by the Dodgers (37th Round) and 2012 by the Tampa Bay Rays (23rd Round). Reid – a third baseman at Tech and now a right-handed pitcher – is currently the closer for the Miami Marlins' Class-A Advanced Jupiter Hammerheads in the Florida State League where earlier this month he was named a FSL All-Star. Redman's father, Dale, was a four-year letterwinner at Tech (1981-84) and finished his career as a Red Raider batting .324.
