A special building project is now underway in Plainview. On Tuesday afternoon, family and friends joined in a special groundbreaking for the Jimmy Dean Museum.
They held the ceremony inside due to rain earlier in the day. The museum will be built on the Wayland Baptist University campus, and tell the story of Dean's beginnings in Plainview and how he worked to become a successful entertainer and businessman.
"I know anyone will enjoy going through the museum and seeing Jimmy's memorabilia and learning more about his life," said Dean's widow, Donna Dean Stevens.
"It's a great story to tell, but it's a great inspiration for our young people as well," WBU's Director of Museums Rodney Watson said.
The museum is scheduled to be completed in August of next year.
