A Vietnam veteran is making a cross country trip to raise awareness for disabled and paralyzed vets.

Raymond Black arrived in Lubbock today.

He's riding a motorized scooter from his home in Saint George, Utah, to the east coast of Florida.

Black travels between eight and 10 miles a day, and said that people along the way have made sure he has a place to rest at night.

"I cannot ask for better treatment," he said. "Everybody's been like Mr. Garcia here - they offered me a place to stay. I've not gone one night that somebody hasn't offered me a place to say or paid for my motel room."

Black is hoping to arrive in Florida in October.
