LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -
Members of the Lubbock chapter of Open Carry Texas met at McCullough Park Saturday afternoon with guns strapped on.
Members say it's all about continuing their efforts to demonstrate their right to bear arms.
They say it's important to let the community know their rights.
It's a discussion that's sweeping through the state of Texas, and there's an underlying message behind today's gathering:
Lubbock Chapter Leader Lawrence Devolld said, "We are trying to educate people about their rights and to show you can open carry rifles and black powder pistols, but you can't open carry handguns. What we are trying to do is get the law changed in Texas so that you can open carry a pistol."
Member Josh Randolph said, "We are also here to work closely with law enforcement to foster a positive relationship, as well as exercise our first and second amendment rights."
