3rd Annual Honor Flight Telethon raises $70,831

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The Texas South Plains Honor Flight and KCBD NewsChannel 11 teamed up on Wednesday, July 2, for the 3rd Annual Honor Flight Telethon to help raise funds to send area veterans to Washington, D.C.

Wednesday's telethon raised $70,831 for the yearly trip.

The Honor Flight has a projected budget of $220,000 for the three day event that leaves on Oct. 1.

The budget will cover the cost of the charter flight, tours, hotels, and meals for more than 140 veterans and support staff.

    The Slaton Fire Department has confirmed to KCBD they responded to a mobile home fire in southeast Lubbock around 1:30 Friday morning. Buffalo Springs and Woodrow also responded to the scene. The Lubbock County Sheriff's Office says they will provide more information on the incident at 8:00 am.
