Posted: Updated:
NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) -

New Hanover County Chairman Woody White has rescinded the State of Emergency as of 10 a.m. Friday.

The New Hanover County Emergency Operations Center says that the National Weather Service has issued a moderate risk for rip currents for our area beaches.

The New Hanover County Emergency Operations Center and Public Information Call Center closed on Thursday evening as Hurricane Arthur moved past the county and toward the Outer Banks.

The county and city of Wilmington originally went into a state of emergency Thursday morning because of the storm. County and city offices closed for the day around 2 p.m.

County leaders did not have to open any emergency shelters in the area due to the storm.
