Arizona family helps boy with cancer collect 'fun' bandages

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

An Arizona family has stepped up to help out a boy with cancer who is collecting colorful bandages for kids at Children's Mercy Hospital.

The Murset family doesn't know 6-year-old Noah Wilson, but they heard about his efforts and wanted to help.

So Greg Murset, his wife and six children went to Children's Mercy to drop off boxes of kid-friendly Band-Aids at the hospital. They also gave Noah a check for $1,000, which he then donated to the hospital.

Two months ago, the Olathe kindergartner was diagnosed with bone cancer. While undergoing treatments at Children's Mercy, he was forced to wear the ordinary beige Band-Aids. He said children want to wear the more colorful ones.

Nearly three weeks ago, Noah had collected 250 boxes. Now he's up to 950.

The Murset family are using an app called My Job Cart to find people who need a little boost by doing good deeds for them. The family is stopping at 25 cities across the country in 20 days.

"My kids thought I was totally crazy when I first had this idea," Greg Murset said. "This is a natural extension of what my Job Cart is, which is teaching kids work ethic, responsibility and accountability and giving back."

Noah's mother, Deborah Wilson, said the family is very grateful.

"We're so appreciative and thankful and we are so humbled that another family would come and help us," she said.

Children's Mercy will use the $1,000 to buy more colorful bandages for other juvenile patients.
