Food for Thought: 7/3

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Dozens of restaurants were inspected, but only three made the list in this week's Food for Thought.

So, were they at the top or bottom?

KCBD NewsChannel 11's Christy Hartin dishes out the answer.

We start at the top.

Qdoba Mexican Grill opened about a month ago at 5017 Milwaukee, and they're already cooking up perfection.

Now to this week's two low performers.

Josie's at 3312 Avenue Q had nine critical violations.

  • Several items in the walk-in cooler were above 41 degrees.
  • The thermometer in the walk-in cooler was broken.
  • Several items in the hot hold were not at least 135 degrees.
  • Employee did not wash their hands before putting on gloves.
  • An uncovered drink was above the soda machine.
  • Condensation from the walk-in cooler's fan was falling onto a container of ice.
  • Beef and chicken fajitas did not have a date mark.
  • The soda nozzles were dirty.
The inspector notes, due to the number and the nature of violations management did not demonstrate food safety knowledge.
