MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Beachgoers should expect to see lifeguards back out on the beach Friday, after they were pulled yesterday because conditions were too dangerous even for them to be in the water. Although Hurricane Arthur has passed us, it still may not be safe for you to get out in the water.

You'll notice a big difference on the beach from yesterday, but it doesn't mean you should let your guard down. Hurricane Arthur is still swirling along the coast, and it's pushing dangerous conditions back down to our area. Since the Fourth of July is one of the biggest beach days of the year, there will be more lifeguards out watching the water. Lifeguards expect the rip current threat to linger in the Grand Strand and possibly to the point where you won't be able to go far into the water. Pay attention to the flags, because the Red "no Swimming" flags could go back up.

Despite the untimely visit from Arthur, Beach Service officialsS said this is a day they are prepared for.

"It's going to be controlled chaos," said Wes Cox, with Lack's Beach Service. "We've been doing this for a while, and we think, well, we know we've got all of our bases covered."

Friday will also be an alert day for lifeguards as they watch out for swimmers. You should also still be watching the waves to make sure you're being safe.
