8-year-old boy killed in Friday night rollover

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - An 8-year-old boy has been killed in a collision that happened Friday night at 5500 Spur 327.

Lubbock police tell us the boy, now identified as eight-year-old Mark Castro, was riding in a 1989 Toyota Corolla that had broken down on the south side of the access road after exiting the loop

Police say a 2007 Lincoln Navigator collided with the back of the Toyota and rolled as it traveled westbound.

The driver of the Corolla, 24-year-old Roberta Camacho, was taken to UMC with moderate injuries. Mark was taken to Covenant Children's ER, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the SUV also suffered moderate injuries.

The accident happened a little after 10 p.m.

A memorial fund has been set up to help the family with funeral expenses. The fund is under Mark Castro and donations can be made at any Wells Fargo Bank in Lubbock.
