The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) conducted a traffic stop Friday on IH-40, yielding over 13 pounds of methamphetamine valued at over $470,000.

At approximately 5:06 p.m., a DPS trooper conducted a traffic stop on a 2008 Ford Escape traveling eastbound on IH-40, for a traffic violation, near Conway in Carson County.

The occupants of the Escape were identified as Juan Carrillo, 50, of Chandler, Ariz., and Daisey Carrillo, 53, of Nogales, Ariz. During the traffic stop, the trooper discovered 10 bundles of methamphetamine in the vehicle.

The Carrillo’s were placed under arrest for possession of a controlled substance, a first-degree felony, and booked into the Carson County Jail. The illegal drugs were allegedly being transported from Phoenix to Oklahoma City.
