Football officials needed in the South Plains

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - As the Friday Night Lights are set to be turned on, The South Plains Chapter of Football Officials are looking to add a few good men or women to wear the stripes.

Randy Adams said that next Saturday the group is holding an introductory meeting all interested parties can attend.

“Saturday, July 19th, at the Texas Tech Human Science Center building,” Adams said, “we are having our first regional clinic, kind of kicking off our season going over rules and mechanics. It’s the first place to start if anyone is interested in being a football official.”

It’s a job where most aren’t noticed, but officials are essential to playing the game.

“It takes a sense of the game,” Adams said. “If you played before, it helps - understanding the rules, understanding the game. We're just there to make sure the game goes off without problems, not to be a part of it, fair for both sides.”

If you are interested in being a high school football official, you can also check out their website here: www.spczebras.org.
