Here's a statement issued from St. Vincent- St. Mary High School:

"The faculty, staff, students, and community of St. Vincent-St. Mary High School are extremely excited to hear about our alumnus, LeBron James, returning to Northeast Ohio to continue his NBA career with the Cleveland Cavaliers. While he has never left our community with his continuing displays of generosity, philanthropy, and leadership, we are happy to have our friend closer to home. We continue to support LeBron and the LeBron James Family Foundation and their future endeavors. LeBron James has a special place in his heart for Northeast Ohio and the STVM community has a special place in its heart for LeBron - where he remains IRISH 23 FOREVER.

Welcome home, God bless, and Go Irish!"

Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald issued the following statement on the impact of this decision for Northeast Ohio:

"As a fan, I am ecstatic to welcome LeBron James back to Northeast Ohio, and I can't wait to cheer him on as he leads the Cavs back to prominence this fall. If the past few days tell us anything at all, there is no doubt that Cleveland is coming back stronger today than ever before. What an incredible week for Cleveland!"

Statement from Mayor Plusquellic on LeBron's announcement of his return:

"No matter where LeBron played basketball, he never stopped giving back to his hometown, Akron.  We are thankful for his generosity and excited to continue partnering with him on projects that help our children and enrich our community.  As good of a basketball player that he is, he is an even better person.  I am thrilled that he has decided to continue his outstanding career in Cleveland, where he will be even more accessible to his Wheels for Education kids and family."

With LeBron James announcing his return to the city, fans all over have something to say.

19 Action News was at The Q just moments after the announcement was made. People were clapping, cheering, beeping car horns. It's good to be a Clevelander this week!

Immediately, crowds started to gather around The Q. Several groups left their downtown offices to hurry and scoop up season tickets. Those who didn't burn their LeBron jerseys and T-shirts four years ago dug them out of the closet.

"I want to celebrate one of the greatest days in Cleveland sports history: The return of LeBron James. It's awesome. Forgiveness is great," said one Cavs fan.

"As soon as I stepped outside, everybody was bragging about him coming home, horns beeping, everybody's smiling. It's like Christmas," said another die hard fan.
