LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) - A standoff between a man wanted in the beating of a woman and authorities in Las Cruces has ended with his arrest.
Police say a 21-year-old Davalous Brown got into a struggle with a Dona Ana County Sheriff's deputy Saturday around 1 p.m. at a Las Cruces home.
Authorities say Brown allegedly gained control of the deputy's Taser and then fled on foot to another home.
Brown then returned to the other house and barricaded himself inside.
A SWAT team entered the home and took Brown into custody around 3 p.m.
Brown is accused of beating the woman Friday while the two were driving in her vehicle.
Brown, who was treated for a gunshot wound to the leg, faces several charges including battery against a household member.
