Marsha Sharp Freeway closures scheduled for Tuesday

Provided by the Texas Department of Transportation

The westbound Marsha Sharp Freeway (US 62/82) exit ramp to northbound west Loop 289 and the 50th Street entrance ramp to northbound Loop 289 will temporarily close to traffic for several hours on Tuesday, July 15.

The closures will allow Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) bridge inspectors to safely perform a routine inspection of the bridges.

Beginning at 9:30 a.m., crews will close the westbound MSF exit ramp-connecting to the freeway frontage roads and northbound Loop 289-to traffic. Motorists needing to access northbound west Loop 289 should use the Slide Road exit. This ramp closure is expected to last one hour.

Then at 11 a.m., crews will close the northbound west Loop 289 entrance ramp just north of 50th Street. Loop frontage road traffic will be able to access the main lanes from the entrance ramp located north of the MSF. The ramp is expected to reopen to traffic by 2 p.m.

Motorists should expect delays and are asked to drive with caution through the area for their safety and the safety of the workers.

TxDOT conducts routine inspections of most bridges every two years to ensures all bridges open to vehicular traffic in Texas are safe. Work will take place weather permitting.
