Southwest All-Stars head to State

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The 11-year-old Southwest All-Stars are on their way to the State Tournament in San Antonio. After winning District and Sectionals, they're ready to play in the Alamo City.

Coach Roy Delgado says their hard work has paid off.

"It's taken a lot of hard work and dedication. This group of boys has been together since the t-ball age, which is about five or six. We came up a little short last year in Sectionals which was held in Midland. This year we were lucky enough to host the tournament here and they took that next step."

This close-knit group hopes to represent the 806 in San Antonio, says All-Star Brady Alexander.

"Knowing each other helps a lot. Knowing what each other can do, confident in each other, liking each other is a big part of it," Brady said.

While their hard work has paid off to make it to State, Nathan Davila knows they have more to accomplish.

"We're gonna have to keep practicing and working hard. We can't just give up now. We have to try to get to the next level and win this."

We wish the Southwest All-Stars good luck at State.
