LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -
Pay It Forward started out this week near the intersection of 71st and Salem. We set up with our Pay It Forward sign seeking this week's playmaker.
A few cars passed us by, but it didn't take long for our playmaker to show up. Jennifer Moore was running errands with her daughter Ali and her two sons, Carson and Dalton. When they saw our sign, they knew what Pay It Forward was about and quickly decided on who they wanted to help.
Jennifer and her children had a quick discussion and unanimously picked Casey Garcia as this week's recipient of $300.
Jennifer told us, "He is newly married and a super hard worker."
Casey works at their barn where they provide horse therapy for children and adults with different disabilities.
Jennifer said, "He takes care of the kids, the clients, the horses and the dogs. He does everything."
Jennifer and her children all agreed that Casey was well deserving of $300.
We made the journey to their farm east of Smyer in Hockley County. Casey was on lunch break when we arrived, so we waited for him to return.
When Casey arrived, Jennifer's children each counted out $100 for a grand total of $300. It was truly a team effort this week.
Casey was surprised, but very thankful.
We asked Casey how he would spend the money.
He told us, "It will pay bills. I'm starting Tech soon."
He told us it might pay for some of his books that he will need for upcoming classes.
He closed by telling everyone, "Thank y'all very much."
Be looking for our Pay It Forward sign soon. You may become our next playmaker.
