One in custody after early morning burglary

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - One person is in custody after a burglary Thursday morning.

Police say a homeowner in the 5700 block of 109th Street observed a suspect attempting to enter his garage with the intent to commit a theft around 4 a.m.

They say the homeowner made contact with the suspect and chased him off of the property.

Police say the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle and that he homeowner followed the suspect while relaying his location to dispatch and responding officers.

They say the suspect, 21-year-old Cody Tivis, was pulled over and taken into custody at the Walmart at 82nd and Milwaukee. A large quantity of suspected property was recovered from Tivis' vehicle.

Tivis is facing burglary and theft charges as well as prior warrants.
