Are you ready to fight the crowds for the best deals? The busiest shopping weekend of the year is only days away and South plains Mall is ready for you. Parking can be one of the biggest frustrations during the holidays. We'll give you some parking tip reminders but first lets take a look at what's inside the mall that's worth fighting to park for.
Sales, sales and more sales. No matter which way you turn, you can see the signs in almost any of the 150 specialty stores or five department stores at South Plains Mall.
"There are always great sales and promotions the day after Thanksgiving," says Marketing Director Beth Bridges. She says they expect more than 150,000 shoppers to hit the mall this weekend.
"The day after Thanksgiving is one of the biggest sales days of the year. And most of our merchants their year depends on the November/December time frame, as much as 25-35% of the year comes at this time. So it's huge with out question," explains Bridges.
She says stores generally have extra staff on hand and more merchandise for the big weekend. Rave Girl Assistant Manager Sarah Smith agrees."Economically yes it is a good weekend for our store. We do really good after the Thanksgiving Day."
Holiday helper Andy Miller says it gets crazy busy at his parent's jewelry store over the holidays. "Oh it's very busy. I have to be over here, over there, over here, over there and people are like can I have that piece of jewelry, oh it drives me nuts," explains Miller with enthusiasm.
Now remember if you take your purchases out to the car, be sure you put them in the trunk or in the very back of your vehicle covered up so they aren't seen. There will be extra security on hand throughout the holiday season monitoring the parking lot to keep you safe.
The mall opens at 7 a.m. Friday morning and doesn't close until 10 p.m. Along with the extended hours comes incentives, there will be three mall money giveaways for shoppers that sign up between 7-8 a.m. in the food court area on Friday morning.
