Lorenzo organized in 1910, with a windmill and a tank

LORENZO, TX (KCBD) -

Lorenzo is a town built around agriculture, particularly cotton. The city is located in the heart of the cotton farming belt of Crosby County.

Lorenzo was organized in 1910 with just a windmill and a tank.

"It was set up along the railroad. Every eight miles there was a town and the channel company gave land to establish that community there."

In 1914, homes started to pop up. Farmers around the area agreed to plant cotton if city leaders would build them a gin.

Cotton is still an important part of Lorenzo's economy today.

The city currently has two gins in operation.
