LITTLEFIELD, TX (KCBD) -
Despite the name Littlefield, the community was not named for the land, but after its founder. Littlefield was established in 1912 by major George Washington Littlefield, an Austin banker and cattleman.
The town was perched alongside the Santa Fe Railway, which helped the town grow.
In 1946, Littlefield became the county seat of Lamb County.
Today, the town boasts more than 6300 residents and has a hospital, police department, volunteer fire department and EMS.
