PLAINVIEW, TX (KCBD) -
A once popular Plainview movie theatre is getting a makeover.
The Granada Theatre originally opened in 1929 and provided its guests with vaudeville acts, plays and hollywood movies on a giant screen for 48 years.
The man undertaking the restoration project is Darryl Holland, who has a family connection to the theater.
"My grandfather was a partner in the incarnation and he booked all of the theaters up here, so it's kind of in my blood, kind of a heritage thing for me to step in here and try and bring this back," Holland said.
Holland says that, in its day, The Granada was one of the grandest theaters in the area, and he believes it's important to restore the building to the great showplace it used to be.
