TERREBONNE PARISH, LA (WVUE) -

A Terrebonne Parish man's homemade trap led to the arrest of his neighbor, police say.

The incident happened on Bull Run Road in Schriever. The resident said that his shed had been burglarized while he was at work.

Luckily, he was prepared.

The victim tells police he prepared a "trap" after his neighbor recently experienced suspicious activity.

He positioned a bucket containing a fluid on top of his shed's doorway. The bucket was connected to a string. If someone entered the shed, the string was tripped and the bucket dumped.

Officers say that Arty Marcel, 50, entered the shed. The string was tripped and the bucket was dumped, capturing a shoeprint in the liquid.

Detectives say that they were able to match the shoeprints, along with other evidence, to Marcel. Marcel is the victim's neighbor.

Marcel was arrested and charged with simple burglary. He is being held at the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex. Bond has been set at $500,000.
