The family of a Plainview man is recovering this week after the loss of a loved one on Sunday.

Fredie Salas was hit by a vehicle and died in the parking lot of the Country Legends bar in Plainview.

Longtime friend of the family Julian Sierra says today seems surreal.

"He had such a big, generous, kind heart," Sierra says of Fredie. "He would actually give you the shirt off his back."

Salas was a brother, son, father and beloved friend. Now his family and friends just want answers.

"I just ask on behalf of the family that if you have any information to come forth because we are suffering and we just want justice." Sierra says.

Police are still investigating what happened Sunday morning but Captain Manuel Balderez with the Plainview Police Department says they know Salas died soon after he was hit by the vehicle.

But there is no surveillance video from outside the bar or eye-witnesses to explain exactly what happened.

"The cause of death was due to the injuries that were sustained when he was hit by a car," Says Balderez. "There were no other signs of trauma as far as any assault goes."

One person from the bar says they saw a gray semi-tractor leaving the parking lot near the time of the incident.

Police are now searching for the driver of that vehicle. A $500 reward is now being offered for information leading to the identification of the driver.

If you have any information, you are urged to contact the Plainview Police Department at (806) 293-TIPS (8477).

A fund has been set up by the family to help pay for funeral costs. If you would like to donate, you can visit the Prosperity Bank in Plainview at 205 West 5th Street.
