Body found outside home in Gregg County neighborhood

The Gregg County Sheriff's Office is investigating a body found in a yard outside of a home north of Longview Monday night.

Lt. Kirk Haddix tells KLTV 7 that the body of a man in his late thirties was found on Rebecca Circle early Monday evening by people walking by the home. The owners of the home where the body was found were not present.

The man's name is not being released, pending notification of the family.

Haddix says that the Gregg County Sheriff's Office is not yet ready to call this a homicide investigation, and did not describe if the body had any visible injuries.

An autopsy will be performed on Tuesday afternoon in Tyler.
