LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Five people were indicted by a Lubbock County Grand Jury on Tuesday, charged with aggravated kidnapping.

Jaime Alvarez, Erica Guerra, Miguel Ponce, Fabian Zambrano and Adam Rico are accused of abducting Christopher Ruiz at gunpoint.

Adam Rico was already in jail, charged in connection with a murder for hire plot involving a Lubbock Sheriff's Office deputy back in May.

Officials say Rico hired Coty Garcia to harm the deputy and his family.

According to the arrest warrant for the aggravated kidnapping, Christopher Joshua Ruiz was lured to the Hunter's Way Apartments by Erica Guerra to pick up what he thought was a mattress.

When he arrived the warrant says Ponce and Alvarez were waiting for him. Fabian Zambrano told officers, "Chris was lying on the floor. Jamie must have hit Chris with a 'Mac 10' pistol on the left side of his face. He saw Jamie holding the 'Mac 10' pistol. Jamie was watching them tie up Chris and talking trash to him about taking the one pound of meth from Adam Rico."

The warrant says the kidnappers tied a red sweater and saran wrap around Ruiz's ankles and used duct tape to bind his hands and cover his mouth. Zambrano told officers that he, Ponce and Alvarez then drove Ruiz to see Rico near 75th and Quaker. The warrant says Rico came out to speak with Ruiz and then took him from the vehicle.

"Chris advised that Jamie, Miguel, Fabian beat him, tied him up, stole his money and shoes and then took him to Adam Rico. Chris advised that once they met with Adam Rico, he advised them to take Ruiz to the ranch and kill him."

The warrant says Zambrano, Ponce and Alvarez left and met Guerra at the Satellite Motel, where she had purchased a room.

"At the motel room they got paid for what they had done. They each got paid $250 in cash and an ounce each of meth."

The warrant says Ruiz was able to escape by pulling an emergency latch in the trunk of the car he was in near the 6900 block of Milwaukee Ave.

"(Ruiz) jumped out of the moving vehicle in the 6900 block of Milwaukee Avenue. He ran west to the 6500 block of 70th street and began banging on doors requesting assistance."

In the warrant it says Zambrano told officers that Rico called them and told them that Ruiz had escaped.

The warrant says when officers responded to Ruiz he told them, "They are going to kill me. You need to protect me."

The warrant says Rico wanted Ruiz dead because he stole drugs and jewelry from him.
