Fifteen years ago, a Lubbock man had a vision. He saw a crime infested, run down neighborhood as a thriving development.
But, it wasn’t his vision that made Delbert McDougal a standout among developers. It was that he did something about it.
Today, that 325 acres, known as North Overton, has been transformed into quality housing for Tech students, restaurants and businesses contributing to the tax roles and one of Lubbock’s nicest hotels.
I heard someone say recently, "Anyone that has ever had a shower has had a good idea.” As funny as it sounds, it’s true.
Delbert McDougal had the wear with all to take on his idea, take on the critics and follow through.
So, thank you and congratulations Delbert. Lubbock is a better place because you turned an idea into action.
