Lubbock YWCA to host First Annual Sun 'N Fun Festival

The Lubbock community is invited to attend the first annual Sun 'N Fun Festival on Aug. 16 at 6204 Elgin Avenue in Leftwich Park. The event is a fundraiser for the YWCA capital campaign to renovate the current Sun 'N Fun Facility. The Sun 'N Fun pool has been providing a safe and fun place for thousands of Lubbock children each year for the past fifty years.

The Sun 'N Fun Festival will kick-off with a 5K run/walk and a sand volleyball tournament. In addition, the event will mark this summer's opening day for the Sun 'N Fun pool. Other festival activities will include a live outdoor concert featuring Element, Jenni Dale Lord, Cash Taylor, Elliott Powell Band and The School of Rock. Plus lots of fun with swimming, games, bounce houses, a climbing wall, arts and crafts, and great summertime food!

The City of Lubbock, Suddenlink Communications, Guns Up Volleyball, The West Texas Watercolor Society and the YWCA of Lubbock.

  • Race and volleyball check-in: 8 a.m.
  • Breakfast available: 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
  • Live DJ and music: 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. 
  • Live Concert: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Race and volleyball starts: 9 a.m.
  • Pool opens: 10 a.m.
  • Food and vendor booths: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
