This week's edition of Pay It Forward started out in Wolfforth. We set up with our Pay It Forward sign seeking this week's playmaker.
It didn't take long for somebody to spot our sign. Dorothy Scarber was driving north along FM 179 when she saw us.
Dorothy turned around and pulled into the parking lot, excited that she was able to catch us.
She immediately knew who she wanted to assist. Dorothy chose Alma Durrett as this week's recipient of $300.
Dorothy told us, "She's got cancer real bad. She's kind of there by herself. She's bedridden."
Dorothy explained that she tries to go over there and help her out as best as she can, so when she saw our sign, she knew she had to help Alma out.
Dorothy was very emotional as she told us about Alma's battle with cancer.
Dorothy said, "I just want to sit down and cry every time I think about her."
Dorothy told us that Alma lives in the Woodrow area. We drove to her house to surprise her.
When we arrived, Alma was speechless.
Dorothy counted out $300 and Alma was deeply touched. Alma was so emotional she couldn't speak.
Finally, she said, "Just thank you."
Be looking for our Pay It Forward sign soon. You may become our next playmaker.
