LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

The Lubbock Medical Examiner's Office has released new information about an accident that killed a young man in Central Lubbock back in August.

Police say 18-year-old Tucker Brantly Arnold lost control of his Dodge Ram and hit an unoccupied parked car before driving into the front yard of a residence and hitting a tree at 49th and Avenue U around 2:30 a.m. on Aug. 19.

Medical examiners say Arnold had a BAC of .267 at the time of the crash, over three times the legal limit of 0.08.

Cain Puente and Zikell Mccullough were awake next door when Arnold's truck came barreling through the neighborhood.

"It was just a loud bang," Puente said.

"I just heard him driving fast and then we heard a swerve and he hit a tree I guess because there was a big thump,"Mccullough said.

Neighbors say Arnold hit cars and fences for blocks on 49th before smashing into the tree in front of Barbara Walton's home, just feet from her living room.

"I saw the truck in the yard and immediately ran outside to look in on him. And he was in really really really bad shape," Walton said.

Arnold was transported to UMC where he was later pronounced dead.

Glass, branches and even parts of Arnold's truck still litter the yard.

"My heart and prayers go out to the family because I can't even imagine the phone call they have gotten," Walton said. "Trees can be replaced, but a human life can't be replaced."

Officials say Arnold was set to attend Texas Tech University in the fall.
