LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Texas Governor Rick Perry is not seeking re-election, but Wendy Davis is hoping to replace him.

Davis is a Texas Senator and a Democrat who will challenge Republican and current Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott in November.

Davis made her first stop in Lubbock Monday night, touting her record to empower sexual assault survivors, while cracking down on assailants.

We asked her about the indictment against Perry.

"Those are very serious charges. I as a lawyer understand and trust the justice system and I will rely on it to do its job," Davis said.

As for Greg Abbott, he has publicly questioned how Perry could be indicted for using his authority, saying "I don't know what to think of it."
