Charles Perry says campaign is a family effort

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Charles Perry has made his faith well known.

"I am a man of faith and I try to make sure that is very clear in any discussion."

He says his desire to serve people is a driving force behind his decision to run for senate, and during campaign season, that means lots of traveling and lots of shaking hands.

"But it has been a lot of fun," Perry says. "We are going to have about 8,000 miles or over, so it has been a hectic pace but a very rewarding pace."

But running for Senate isn't his only responsibility.

Perry is a full time CPA with an accounting firm he has built from the ground up.

This season of his life has been a delicate balance between his work life and his campaign.

"When you go through the process with them they have a pretty clear perspective on what I am, what I stand for and what I've done in the past two house sessions."

Despite his work in two fields that deal primarily with people, he says it's those he comes home to that help make everything possible.

"I couldn't do it without my wife who allows me to do it. She lets me out of the house and be a servant."

Perry's wife Jacklyn says it has been a family effort from the beginning, an effort that has involved their grown children Matthew and Jordan.

"We are all a part of this," Jacklyn says. "We are all backing him and we all know that he needs us to be behind him and from the beginning we have all been behind him."
