Power outage drives out Walmart customers

Posted: Updated:
LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

A power outage at a Lubbock Walmart forced hundreds of people to exit the store empty-handed handed on Saturday.

We're told the power went out around 3 p.m. at the Walmart off of 82nd and Milwaukee Avenue, leaving the store packed with hundreds of customers in the dark.

Customers tell us the store was particularly crowded Saturday afternoon with families preparing for back to school.

Walmart tried to continue operations with backup generators, but at around 3:45 p.m., they ended up telling everyone just to leave their items in the store and evacuate.
