Lee County halts Westover, wins 13-0

In front of a national television audience, Lee County defeated Westover 13-0 Saturday morning. The game showed great defenses on both ends.

The Trojans were able to force multiple 3 & outs and kept the Westover offense under 100 total yards in the first half.
Lee County Head Coach Dean Fabrizio felt confident in his unit after the game.

"We feel like we played awfully good defense last year," Fabrizio said. "We picked up right where we left off today. We got a lot of guys back on defense and they played the way we expect them to play."

Garet Morrell earned his first career start for Lee County. His offense was helped by a shanked Westover punt that led to a Jamal Gardner 4-yard touchdown run. Saturday was also the first career start for Westover's Emory McKenzie. McKenzie wasn't helped by special teams mishaps and was hurt by penalties. Westover had over 10 penalties for over 70 yards.

"Every time we got something going," Westover head coach Octavia Jones said. "We had a penalty here and there and it backed us up and we couldn't take advantage of the momentum we had. We change the momentum, we make a game out of it but we just got to clean those mistakes up."
