Espinal leading young Cavaliers

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Expectations are high once again for the Darton State soccer program. The men's team is ranked eighth in the junior college preseason polls.

Bart Sasnett will lead a young group of Cavaliers this season, but he does have experience where you want it.

Goalkeeper Adam Cahill returns after being named 2nd team All-Region during his freshman campaign.

Up front, the Cavs can count on plenty of offense from All-American striker Darwin Espinal.

Sassnett says Espinal is key as the Cavs try to overcome their youth as they face one of the toughest schedules in the country.

"His leadership has been instrumental in the development of this team this year. Without him leading by example, some of these younger guys wouldn't have followed," Sasnett says. "We're very young. We have 15 freshmen, and so to have him stepping up and leading, plus the guys have really bought into the system and bought into him as well."

The Cavaliers kick off the 2014 season Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. when they host Georgia Military College.
