New Mexico teen dies after accident in school parking lot

LOVINGTON, NM (KCBD) -

A New Mexico teen, rushed to Lubbock after being injured in an accident at her high school has died.

The accident happened on Wednesday in Lovington, which is about an hour and a half southwest of Lubbock.

According to the school district, the female student suffered severe head trauma in a vehicle-related accident in the high school parking lot.

Lovington's superintendent posted a message on the district's website that says the 17-year-old senior died on Thursday.

Police nor the school are releasing her name.

The district is providing counselors for students.
