A man is facing murder charges after a Livingston woman was found dead in her home.
Deputies say that Caleb Lee Lejeune, 27, admitted to killing 47-year-old Joy Messina of Livingston, La. According to the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office, Messina was discovered on the living room floor of her home, unresponsive. Detectives say that the conditions of Messina's body, cut marks on her stomach and throat from a knife or a sharp object, were conducive to a homicide.
Investigators say neighbors told them that Lejeune had been living with Messina for several weeks. But, when deputies arrived at the scene, Lejeune was not there. However, authorities say he drove by the scene. Lejeune was stopped on S. Satsuma Rd near Spring Ranch Rd. After detectives interviewed him, they say Lejeune admitted to killing Messina.
Lejeune was arrested and charged with one count of 2nd Degree Murder, and he was taken to the Livingston Parish Detention Center. Officials say this investigation is still ongoing, and more charges may arise in this case.
