Food for Thought: 9/4

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

A repeat low performer is once again back at the bottom of the list, but it's not all bad news in this week's Food for Thought.

KCBD NewsChannel 11's Christy Hartin dishes out the report.

Back in August health inspectors found 10 critical violations, including an insect infestation, at Lin's Buffet at 5608 Slide.

The facility closed while they were cleaning up and has since reopened.

This time health inspectors found five critical violations, half of what they had last month.

  • Multiple cold foods were above the safe temperature of 41 degrees.
  • Several hot foods were not at least 135 degrees.
  • An employee handled raw chicken, cleaned a table and then moved on to another task without washing their hands.
  • Crab salad, beef, chicken, boiled eggs, noodles and rice did not have a date mark.
  • Sanitizer solution was not strong enough.

The report shows all violations were corrected during the inspection.

Management was not available for comment.

Here's a look at this week's top performers:

  • Arby's at 5711 19th
  • Sonic Drive-In at 4401 4th
  • Tommy's Famous Burgers at 117 University.
