Lubbock Students Set Mission To Send Treats To Troops

While U.S. troops are fighting in Iraq, local junior high students are on a mission of their own.

It's called Operation Holiday. For the past two months, Irons Junior High students have made shoe boxes for the soldiers overseas. The boxes are filled with toiletries, magazines, Christmas treats and more. "It's the best feeling ever, just knowing you've done something for someone and they know that we're caring for them over here in Lubbock, TX," says 9th grader Brittany Hoffman.

On Friday, students loaded the boxes into a U-Haul truck bound for Fort Hood. From there, the boxes will be shipped to Iraq.
