Hundreds of LISD employees and students are mourning the loss of long time football Coach Larry English, who died Friday after a lengthy battle with ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease.
English coached at Mackenzie Junior High for 25 years, even continuing to call plays from his wheelchair as the disease began to paralyze his body and hinder his speech. But his spirit was always strong.
"If I had died in a car wreck, I would have missed out on so many blessings," said Coach Larry English, in an interview with Karin McCay earlier this year.
Coach English was an elder at Greenlawn Church of Christ. His services are planned at that church Tuesday December 7th at 5 p.m.
